Argument

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Argument is a communication app for schools, businesses and other organizations. Members of the same institution can chat in institution-wide and group channels, receive announcements, take part in polls, view schedules and exams, and elect class representatives. We collect only what is necessary to make the app work. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Data we collect

How we use your data

We do not sell your data and we do not show ads. Your information is used only to operate Argument. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

Who can see your content

Messages you send in a channel are visible to members of that channel (your institution, your group, or the staff room). Your name, role and profile photo are visible to members of your institution. Nothing you post is public on the internet.

Service providers

We host data on Supabase (EU region, Frankfurt) with encryption in transit and at rest. Push notifications are delivered through Expo and Apple/Google notification services. Maps and address search use Mapbox. Sign-in may use Apple or Google. These providers process data only on our behalf.

Data security

Access to data is protected by row-level security rules so that only members of an institution can see that institution's content. We apply industry-standard practices, but no system is perfectly secure — please use a device passcode and keep your sign-in credentials safe.

Content moderation

You can report any message and block any user from inside the app (long-press a message). Blocked users' messages are hidden from you immediately. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and may lead to content removal or account restrictions.

Your choices and rights

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed immediately. We may keep a minimal record where required by law or to prevent abuse (for example, that an account was removed).

Children and students

Argument is used by schools, so some members may be minors. Student accounts are created by the students themselves or with the help of their school; the school decides which groups exist and who joins them. We collect no more data from students than from any other user, and we never use it for advertising or profiling. Parents, guardians or schools may contact us to review or delete a student's data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you inside the app.
